How to drive through the contiguous 48 states.

I am posting this link for people who really, really, really want to see the entire U.S. It's a map of a route that takes you through all the states. Of course it misses some of the most interesting parts, like South Florida, the San Francisco Bay Area and Yellowstone/Teton, but it's an interesting place to start.

Why does it miss South Florida (or anywhere else for that matter)? I mean if you are going to take the TIME to drive through all the 48 contiguous states why not REALLY drive "through" them?

If this touching the corner of a bunch of states for a bucket list - or a real trip that someone might enjoy?

And it can't be real if it misses SF - never mind south FL.

Yes, it might be interesting, but I hardly think that any "route" for going through 48 states is actually for those who "really, really, really want to see the entire US". It sounds a lot more like something for those who like to say "hey, I've been to all 48 states".

As others already suspected this is a "trip" for someone who wants to say the visited all 48 states and doing it in 113 hours doesn't give you time to actually "visit" each state. Why even bother?

Sounds like doing Walt Disney World in a day--hit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, MGM, and both waterparks in a single day.
I had much rather see and really experience 1 or 2 places than to just check-off a dozen. We have been doing National Parks nearly exclusively for the past 10 years, making sure to spend a few days in most spots-while most people average only 4 hours.

If we ever see the link, maybe we'll find it is planned to be experienced over a period of a year or so. That could mean you really are "seeing" the US.
