When driving the 17 mile drive, can the drive enjoy the view?......

Hi All, We are going to San Franciso and plan on a day drive down to Carmel, etc. What I was wondering was.... can the person doing the driving enjoy the view? A car would be the ideal way, as far as convenience and cost, but if my husband would not be able to enjoy the view we were thinking of taking a day tour. Any thoughts?

I don't think it would be a problem.

Hopefully you know that 17 mile drive is more about "fancy" houses and golf than natural scenery.

We have done the 17-mile drive many times--just beautiful. The driver can certainly enjoy the view as it is a leisurely drive, i.e. not fast. I would also suggest that you take in the drive along the coast near the Pacific Grove golf course. The view is just as nice and there are numerous places to pull off the road. Chances are you will see dear roaming around. This area is outside of the 17-mile drive area. Have a great trip!

It is also sprinkled with an abundance of turn-offs and look out points. Just don't do it in such a rush that you can't keep stopping to get out of the car and enjoy what you are seeing.
