How Long Is the Drive From Las Vegas to Phoenix?

Mapquest says it takes 7 hours. Is that about right? It says to take 93 through Kingman. Anything interesting to see along that route?
Thanks.

Depending on where you are going to in Vegas or Phoenix the drive takes between 6 or 7 hours. Nothing much to see along the way. You could stop in Kingman and see the Andy Devine information, but as far as excitement goes that's really pushing it.

Most of us just drive it quickly to get through it.

I don't know about you guys but we've done it in 5 hours to Scottsdale (to Mandalay Bay). We've gone through Kingman and the Hoover Dam. Sure, we drove fast but I can't believe it would take 7 hours!

I dont know about 7 hours but I've done the drive in a little over 5. There is a shortcut called something pass. I forget what its called but i went about 10 over the speed limit which isnt bad. It saves atleast 2 hours but the only bad thing is its 1 lane. Only good part about drive is going TO Vegas seeing the hoover dam and the lights approaching vegas.

Drive is definely in the 5 hour range. Rte 93 from Phx is being widened and straightened and is much faster and safer than 10 years ago. Only hold up is around Hoover Dam. Slow traffic or detours or inspections for Dam protection. If you're driving a passenger and not a commercial vehicle there should be no detours.

Is the south rim of the Grand Canyon about the same distance to LV as Phoenix is? Or even a little less?

Driving time is a little over 5 hours but when we went last year in early April there was a HUGE backup around the Hoover dam and added an hour to our trip.
