Hotels in Anchorage?

Has anyone stayed at Econo Lodge in Anchorage? They offer a comp. shuttle to and from airport, train. No breakfast or pool, and the price is very economical and it's downtown.

I stayed at the Sheraton just down from it, and it didn't appear to be a very nice place. If you're not picky about where you stay and you're looking for something cheap, it might be OK.

In case you decide against the Econo Lodge, the Springhill Suites and the Quality Inn were both extremely nice. I would definatly stay at either of these properties again. They both also serve breakfast and have airport shuttle service.

We stayed a night at the Microtel near the airport. New/clean/good breakfast/shuttle/relatively inexpensive. Completely booked so reserve ahead.

Dave, how about posting your trip report. I remember sometime ago you asked about Sheep Mtn Lodge. Did you stay there?
Do you have website address for Microtel?

The Residence Inn is located in so-called "midtown," some distance from any tourist destinations. Although we haven't stayed there, I presume it's like all other Residence Inns - quite comfortable "suite" accommodations with kitchens, hot breakfast every morning, etc. It's Marriott's notch up from Courtyard. Good for families.

In that location a car would be a necessity. With a car, it's not bad.
