hotel for Getty visit

We live in San Diego...would like to know of a hotel that would be convenient for an overnight to see the Getty. Not sure where to look.
We probably would arrive early am and spend the day at the museum but don't want to drive all the way back. We would rather stay overnight and eat out..

Thank you.

There's a hotel right at the foot of the hill atop which the Getty sits--they even run (or perhaps ran) a shuttle service from their parking lot to the museum. I wish I could remember the name, but it's gone--although I think it might have been a chain hotel. Anyone else know the one I mean?

I think there is a Holiday Inn in Brentwood, but Westwood is not very far and there are quite a few hotels and restaurants there as well. I know there is a Doubletree Inn.

The Holiday Inn is the well-known round hotel immediately adjacent to the 405. I heard in the past several days that it is closing for a complete renovation.

I second LTR's suggestion of Westwood and the Doubletree.

You might also check out the Getty Center's website. There may be close-in hotel information.

Sad to hear that the Holiday Inn Brentwood is closing, it has long been "the affordable choice" for families visiting UCLA and rooms will now probably double in price. Oh well. Anyway, if it is open for your dates of visit..it is almost walking distance to the Getty and they have a free shuttle or you can take a 1 min ride on the Citibus. Westwood/UCLA area has tons of dining nearby, but I highly recommend a visit to The Restaurant at the Getty for dinner (open daily for lunch and I think Fri&Sat only for dinner). The W Hotel is the upscale joint near UCLA and Hilgard House is the 3-star moderate choice near the W. There is also a Radisson Bel Air nearby and I think the old, seen-better-days Brentwood Motor Hotel is still open and would do in a pinch, just a 4 min drive from the Getty.

There are a couple of Best Westerns in the area, 11250 Santa Monica and 2528 So. Sepulveda within easy driving range and parking is included. The Royal Palace on Tiverton also includes parking in their rate, and is in Westwood Village. Dont' forget the nasty 14 percent Hotel tax.

Enjoy, the Getty is a great treat!
