higher end Portland B&B/Hotels

Hi all

any recos on nice places to stay in Portland? I think I'd prefer a B&B actually. I'm picturing a Victorian kind of house in a nice neighborhood, walking distance to restaurants and so on. Given that it will be fall if there happen to be any with fireplaces in the room that would be grand.

thank you!

If you look at the Oregon posts you will see a great posting about a B&B in
West Linn - which is really part of the Portland area

The first place that came to mind is this one, flygirl: http://www.bbexplorer.com/clickthrough.asp?ID=171. It's in the Irvington district, not far from Lloyd Center. It's a beautiful building, but you'd probably need to take public transportation to places you might want to eat.

Here's another one to consider: http://www.macmaster.com/. It's near NW 21st and 23rd, one of Portland's better shopping and dining districts. Not too far from the trendy Pearl District either.

FYI - Since I live in Portland, I've not stayed in either of these places, but have seen both from the outside many times.

I've statyed at the Lion & the Rose and also Portland Guest House, both a few blocks from Lloyd Center. There are a bunch of restaurants in the neighborhood.

Lion & Rose has a more upscale interior. I liked the ambiance and the breakfasts at the P. Guesthouse better though.
