Just be aware that entrees at Carmin'es are $25 to $30 ($20 is very low for Times Suare area) but food comes in such massive quantities that you can share things. (Suggest you check you menupages.com.)

Carmine's is loud and busy - if that's what you mean by fun - but the food is just OK - traditional red sauce Italian.

You might try Roberto Passon for prices a ittle more moderate - and a place that's not quite so frantic.

Just to follow up, this is where you can see carmines menu: http://www.carminesnyc.com/carmines_44st.htm

NYCtraveler is right- prices are in the mid to hi 20s for an entree but portions are considered "Family style" eg they are meant to be shared. and i would have to disagree with the previous comment. the atmosphere is great- this is times square- it needs to be boisterous and there are a ton of food options. i dont eat pasta . the veal is delicisious. enjoy !

Since you are staying at the Marquis and arriving early, I would call and set up an early arrival if you can. This place is notorious for rooms not ready at any time in the afternoon. You will certainly have a central location for the bus tours - the busses are literally just outside of the hotel on Broadway. You can buy tickets in the hotel in advance if you choose. For the first half day, take the tour bus and get off at Wall Street. Enjoy the area, visit the WTC site and the church and take a walk over to the Winter Garden to view pix and plans for the upcoming buildings and memorials. You can have lunch at any of the eateries inside the Winter Garden. Then head outside, and enjoy the view on the river outside of Winter Garden and walk up to Battery Park to see that area. There is a Jewish Museum and there is the American Indian Museum within close walking distance.Hop back on the bus when you're done.
Good dinner spots in the TS area - Ruby Foo's - on Broadway....an easy walk. John's Pizzeria on the side street of the Marquis, Ollie's Noodles on the same street- both very close.
Restaurants in the Marquis are very expensive, but you can enjoy cocktails in the revolving restaurant at the top of the Marquis called "The View".
Have a great trip!

Between East 9 and East 11th from Ave A to Second Ave, there are many boutiques with owner/designers. Your daughters might like that.
