Help! Need Getaway Near Raleigh

I am looking for a special getaway for a night or two within a few hours of Raleigh, NC. We are not familiar with NC & could use some suggestions on a place to go to.

My husband is working down in Raleigh & I will be visiting him for a long weekend. We would like to get away for a few nights. I would like to keep it under $200 a night. Something different/special then the regular hotel/motel. Thanks for any suggestions!

Based on the location & time frame I would head for the coast - Southport perhaps. Winston-Salem is also pretty cool & not too far. CMC has it pretty much covered.

Here Ya Go........less than an hour away. Take the summer getaway package at $295.00 for room, dinner for two and $25.00 gift certificate. I stayed here last summer. It's very nice.

There are many B & B's in Wilmington that should fit the bill. Depending on when you are making the trip, you may be able to rent some cottages/condos @ the beach if you are traveling 'out of season' but it sounds like the trip is upcoming. Most of those places are locked down for a week minimum. There are also a couple of cool places in downtown W-S (whose names escape me). But either should be in your price range.

I'm Sorry I left the link out..........Fearrington is a member of Relais and Chateaux. They have another great place outside Charleston, one in Savannah and one in Walland,TN all near you.

Try www.bnbfinder.com. The Augustus Zevely Inn in W-S is nice. I doubt that the Fearrington House will fit their budget though (although it is very nice).

The Farrington looked wonderful! We would be going mid-Sept. so the special changes to $395--which is more then I really want to spend for a night. However, the $295 was managable because it included dinner/breakfast, too bad the special ends at the end of Aug.

I'm going to check into the others just mentioned.

Thanks again! Still open for other suggestions too!
