What is there to see/do near Morganton, North Carolina?

What is there to see/do near Morganton, North Carolina?
I'd love any advice on things to see or do or good restaurants in the area. Also, how far would it be from the Biltmore Estate? Is Morganton a suburb of a larger area, or a small city that's kind of isolated? We're headed there for a wedding later in the year. Thanks for any info. you can provide.
I've heard there's a nice park in the area with a waterfall - is that worth seeing?

Although I used to live nearby in Winston-Salem, my one time actually staying in Morganton was last fall. I was there to run a marathon, so my focus was pretty narrow. But I can tell you that it is a small isolated city, not a suburb of anything greater.
That's a pretty part of NC, but no offense to anyone, I didn't think all that much of the town itself.
On the other hand, less than an hour west (and on the way to Asheville and Biltmore House, on I-40) is a GREAT little town called Black Mountain. Cool shops and restaurants and art galleries. Really neat, walkable small downtown area. I would say it's probably an hour and half to Asheville/Biltmore House.

You're probably talking about Linville Falls, it's not too far from Morganton. Great area, the falls are spectacular.
There's a lot of sightseeing to do in the area, a lot of good drives on twisty roads. Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Black Mountain, Asheville. The Brown Mountain Lights are nearby. You can Google it and find out what that's all about. Don't know that there's anything IN Morganton itself, but you can reach all those places in 30-45 minutes I'd guess.

Thanks to everyone again for all your recommendations; we have our inn booked - found a place called the Arbor House that looks right up our alley. We'll check out Veranda and Red Rocker for dinner; both of them look great. I'm thankful you guys pointed us in the direction of Black Mountain - don't think we would have discovered it on our own.
