Help me pick a place to stay in Kauai

My wife and I are meeting family in Kauai for 1 week. Princeville or Hyatt won't be an option for some members of our family, so please advise on the best place to stay.

Try Aston Hotel, Aston Condos, and Hanalei Bay Resorts.

You really need to provide more info if you want a helpful response. How many people? What time of year? What is your budget?

Total number of people going is 6. We'll be going in April. Please give any advice regardless of price.

If price is not a concern, why don't you just stay at Princeville or the Hyatt? They are commonly believed to be "the best place to stay."

My family (10 of us including a 6 month old) stayed at the Waimaia (sp?) Plantation Cottages on the south shore. This place isn't inexpensive!Individual "housekeeping" cottages are available, and we really had fun cooking together and playing in the pool. I highly recommend it!

Go to Princeville it's much less commercial than other places, we stayed at Hanali Bay (sp?) and it was great, condo unit with views of ocean and mountians

Go to Kauai Vacation Rentals Website and rent a House. MUCH Cheaper and better selection. We have used them the last 5 trips and have had GREAT luck.

We stayed at the Koloa Landing Cottages near Poipu. Our two bedroom, two bath cottage was approximately $125 per night and was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Ellie has 5 or 6 housekeeping cottages of varying sizes and off-street parking. Although the cottages are not on the beach, they are within walking distance. We preferred being away from the "condo crowd."
We also looked at the Waimea Plantation Cottages and they were very nice - but somewhat out of the way in the southwest corner of Kauai.
You might also want to check out www.vrbo.com for rentals by owner. We rented a nice home in Hilo on the Big Island and were very satisfied.

Hanalei Colony Resort on the North Shore is very nice. Beachfront, not really a swimming beach but beautiful for walks. Each unit has 2 bedrooms, king and 2 twins, and a full kitchen.

I stayed at both Hanalei Bay and the Hyatt and highly recommend both. Hanalei Bay had amazing views and was more casual. I recommend splitting your time between the two areas of the island. They are very different and splitting your time lets you see both and not have to do tons of driving. If you want one, and don't want the Hyatt, go with Hanalei Bay. Be warned though, the North Shore has a reputation of being rainy (we got none at all in my stay in August). You never know though!

Try checking these websites which offer lots of options, houses to rent or condo complexes.
www.suite-paradise.com
www.grantham-resorts.com
www.poipu-beach.com
www.kauairentals.com
www.hanalei-vacations.com
www.vrbo.com
Good luck in your search. If I were traveling with alot of people , I would rent a couple of condos in the same complex, or a large house with a pool. Most condo complexes will have pools.
