help in hawaii

do you think 4/5 nights is enough time in kauui. We are going to other islands and we want to incorporate Kaui somewhere on the trip?

Yes that should allow plenty of time to enjoy Kauii. One day to drive up the west side and one to drive up the east side. Take in a chopper ride over the Na Pali coast if you are adventurous. It was well worth the price. Also see Waimea Canyon. Very picturesque.

There aren't enough days in the year for time in Kauai! It is so wonderful. But, seriously, if you are doing other islands you should be fine with 4-5 days. I would make Kauai last on the agenda......it is soooooooo laid back.

We are really active people and could have filled two weeks on Kauai with no problem. After visiting all the islands now, I would only choose to return to Kauai.

Mellyz, you sound like my husband. He will return to Kauai again and again and again. We haven't done the Big Island and I really want to, but he thinks 2 days is gonna be enough for him.

We've done Maui but never Kaui. Is Kaui that different from Maui? We love Maui so much that we don't want to go no where else. Been to Honolulu too. It was to city for us. Nice to see Pearl Harbor. Enjoyed that tour!! Also saw Waikiki beach. Nothing big for us. What's different about Kaui vs Maui?

To Janny! Kauai is so different from Maui. It is less developed and more picturesque from any vantage point. The north shore is serene. Hanalei is a delight. Princeville is beautiful. The east shore is awesome. Sleeping Giant is visible from the road. The south shore is beautiful too but I prefer the north shore. The west coast, Barking sands, and Waimea Canyon are incredible. Each island is different and beautiful in its own right, however, I would miss Kauai if I did not return every few years.

I think five days is perfect for Kauai. We visited in June 2002 for four days and thought "one more day would be perfect!" It is much more laid-back than Maui, the pace is slower. However, it's very beautiful, nature-wise. My husband, who's an artist, commented that he's never seen green the way he saw it in Kauai. A local told us that the latitude of the sun is what makes the colors so vibrant.

srosini - looks good - can do

Janny - "Need to get out more"....joking of course.

carbogilligan is correct.

Been to all the islands...all offer something different.....matter of personal preference. Maui personally is low on my prefernce chart...but it is WONDERFUL
Hawaii....it's all good!

Iceeu2 - two days on the Big Island is probably enough. We did the Volcano in one day - and I would have liked to see more of the coast north of Hilo on a subsequent day. When we go back (hopefully in 2005 if I can snag an exchange) and take the kids, I'd like to do the evening tours up at Mauna Kea, looking through the telescopes would be such a thrill!!!!

I thought Maui was paradise until we were on Kauai. No comparison. I think only the South Pacific could top it in my book - yet to venture there.
