Hi again. I have an oppurtunity to rent a cottage near Hanapepe in January.
A search of this forum does'nt turn up much info.
I am looking to get the good,the bad and the ugly (if thats possible on Kauia)on this area.

I don't think it's the best area, although convenient for Waimea canyon. It's near enough to Kalaheo for restaurants, the area around Hanapepe is dry and dusty, especially Port Allen which is where the excursions to Na Pali go from.

I would enjoy staying in this area. Hanapepe is an old plantation town with a few art galleries and specialty shops. It is close to Salt Pond Beach Park, which is one my favorites. I like swimming in the protected cove area, and there is usually a lifeguard on duty. (I tried to post a link, but it didn't work. Do a Google search for photos of this beach.) You could also visit the Kauai Coffee Company, which is nearby. Not too far from Poipu if you find you miss the touristy trappings of a resort area.
