kgibson: From my local sources...
Red Newt catering is good -- has a pretty good reputation. I wouldn't put it past our wedding friends to go skimpy on the food, however you may want to make sure you know exactly what you are getting. Talk to Deb Whiting.
Another name - Carol Bowers. Not sure if she is affiliated with anyone or not.
I'm sure you can ask around and get some good suggestions. Good luck!

To : ethaete and lauriB,
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to check into them right now.
Carol Bowers is a name that keeps coming up when I ask friends, but with mixed reviews.
Yes, I am so fortunate to have a sister and brother-in-law that have enough money to buy a cottage on the lake!
Unfortunately, they bought it only so that all of my siblings (who live in various parts of the U.S.) could come
back and be near our mother, who has
cancer. It has been a long ordeal, and the cottage has been a godsend. Our families stay there and soak in the
beauty and peacefulness of the lake while at the same time being close to my mom and dad. If you went to school
in Watkins anytime over the last 35 years you most likely had my mother for
a substitute teacher! Everyone remembers her: Mrs.Sand....
Thanks again for your suggestions.

kgibson -- I grew up outside of Binghamton, and have family in the Finger Lakes, so we are there all the time. I live in Philly area now, but we go back up at least twice a month for weekends (mostly in the watkins glen area). We plan to move back someday! Let us know how everything works out. Sorry to hear about your Mom, I hope recovers from her illness. Glad you have a peaceful place to go to when you visit.

Thanks again--I was actually in Corning last weekend for a quick jaunt to see my family--and I grabbed some brochures. I am so excited to show my BF the area. Thanks for all the suggestions--you guys are wonderful.
I will certainly post when I return!

To:ethaete,
Thanks for your kind words about my mom.
Unfortunately, her cancer is terminal.
You are so right about having a peaceful
place to come back to when we visit.
On a lighter note, does anyone know anything about the Rainbow Cove Motel
on Seneca Lake? Some of my friends
and family will need a place to stay for
our wedding. Please let me know if you've heard anything about it.
Thanks again.
