P.S. I think that the lunch buffet is $6.95.

Yeh another Corvallis poster on here! She did a great job on the restaurants. I also really like New China Buffet (I agree, weird name), they do have roast beef at least the few times we have been. I would recommend this for your large group gathering.

Two others that come to mind are:
Oasis - Lebanese up by Winco on 53 and Kings Blvd
Tarn Tip - Thai on Monroe a block off campus.

Le Bistro is my favorite 'expensive' (for our 1 income family) place in Corvallis (no high chairs for anyone else interested) Then Gables is my next favorite - ahh prime rib!

For cheap eats I love Local Boyz Hawaiian near campus, American Dream Pizza is good too - can create your own slice or small pizza with different types of toppings, not just the same-o same-o.

I have had terrible luck with Magenta - once I had to send my fish back - it was raw and it didn't say that on the menu. I do enjoy the interior decorations, they have different types of chairs and tables rather than standard booths.

Here is a link to all the dining in Corvallis, if you have any specific questions let us know

Enjoy!

Hi Sara,

Thanks for posting that link to the Corvallis Dining options! We use to always go to corvallismenus.com however that site is no longer in operation so this new one at least has the restaurants listed.

BTW, we really like Oasis as well. However, we're boring, we always get the same thing when we go - the Chicken Schwarma - hmmm, yum! Maybe someday we'll get advernturous and actually try something different .

Cheers,
Tracey

Just wanted to thank everyone for their recommendations. We ate dinner at Big River and Iovinos which were both very good. Breakfast one morning at Sunnyside Up (it was okay) and Noah's Bagels the next morning as my son had to be at the field at 7:15am. But we love Noah's Bagels and there isn't one where we live.

We ate at the McMenamin's for one lunch which was good (standard McMenamin's food). Sunday we ate brunch at Michael's Landing. We actually disliked it a lot! The service was very slow - we had to wait almost an hour for our food (I guess the kitchen was backed up - but an hour???). Frankly, when we got the food it was a real disppointment, actually just plain bad.

We did go (several times) to Francesco's which serves gelato made on the premises. It was really quite good!! I would say right up there with Mio Gelato in Portland. We are still trying to recreate the great gelato we had in Italy in March!!

We ended up not eating together as a big group. We are doing a big pizza party tonight now that we are home (hey, they won 1st place in the soccer tournament!)

You missed the best place in Corvallis: NEW MORNING BAKERY! It's right downtown and is a favorite with all us local families. Great food & cheap prices, especially if you compare it to portland etc. I can't believe someone sent you a list including yucky fast food when we have such a great local place!

Any suggestions for Thanksgiving dinner in Corvallis? My father always wants to go to Michael's Landing. We would rather not eat there...

Thanks!!

sparklegem,

Hmmm, you may need to call around to see what nice restaurants are open on Thanksgiving in Corvallis. I'm sure Michael's Landing probably is, but like you, I wouldn't necessarily want to go there for Thanksgiving dinner. We always go to our family's homes up in the Portland so have never had the opportunity to eat Thanksgiving in Corvallis. You may want to call The Gables, Big River, Le Bistro, and some of the other nicer restaurants in town to see if they're doing anything for Thanksgiving (or are even open). Or if you want ethnic food you may find some of the ethnic restaurants open. Another idea is to maybe even call some places in Eugene if you're up for the 45-minute drive - they may have a larger selection than Corvallis for Thanksgiving offerings.

Goodluck!

Tracey

I would probably recommend The Gables for Thanksgiving - feels the most 'traditional' in town but some non-traditional listed above would be good. Definately call ahead because I have a feeling some will be closed.

I second the Gables. Check to see if Big River is open, too. Skip Michael's Landing, mediocre food and awful service. Also check the Oregon Hotel in McMinnville. It's owned by McMinnimins and we had a super Thanksgiving there once. Make a reservation early!

Wow...I really can't believe no one has mentioned Sybaris!! It's in Albany (20 min from Corvallis) but my favorite restaurant for sure. Ingredients are always fresh, in season and locally grown/raised. The menu changes every month, so you can always go and try something new! I'm not sure if they do a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, but give 'em a call at 541-928-8157. Believe me, you won't be sorry!
