Iron Chef Restaurants
I am traveling to Tokyo and would like to eat at Iron Chef Chin Kenichi's restaurant. Are there any fans out there who have been to Tokyo and eaten there? I understand his restaurant in Akasaka is where he mostly cooks. I want to know if it is really expensive, and also if there are any of vegetarian dishes to choose from?

His reautant in Akasaka is called Sichuan Hanten ("shisen hanten"
. There is also a branch in Roppongi (hope it's still open).
Definitely recommen making reservation for dinner. Known for mapo tofu and prawns in chili sauce.
I'm not sure how you define vegetarian but be careful. Stir-fried vegetables or tofu-based dishes are seasoned with meat/seafood-derived broth in most cases.

We ate at Chen Kenichi's restaurant in Akasaka 2 years ago and the food was truly fabulous. We were told at the time that Chen was quit ill (cancer?) - not sure what his situation is now. Don't recall any vegetarian dishes, but we were not looking for them (though I'd be very surprised if there were no such dishes available). Pricey, yes, but not nearly as bad as a gourmet restaurant in Paris.
