good place in Portland (Maine) for lunch?

Hoping to find a quiet, pleasant restaurant with good food, preferably seafood. This will be a Thursday (May 31), and I'm looking for someplace where we won't feel pushed, someplace where we can take our time and where it's quiet enough to have real conversation. Preferably someplace that takes reservations. Thank you very much.

Di Millo's right on the waterfront probably fits the bill. It's not a small, quaint place but it's decent and you can probably find a quiet corner no problem.

you can check on opentable.com for reservations, but I am not sure Mims is on there, but we like it there

if you do a search here for portland, maine and for restaurants, portland, me you will find some other nice choices.

there is also Dimillos floating restaurant if that interests you , right on the water - the food isn't necessarily the best in town, but it's good and the location is a great spot - i think it is

Does it have to be in Portland? The Salt Water Grill is on the waterfront in So. Portland with a fabulous view of the Portland skyline, also Joe's Boathouse in SP sits in a marina. If you can venture as far as Cape Elizabeth, the Inn by the Sea is lovely. In Portland, I prefer the Old Port Sea Grill but I'm not sure if they're open for lunch.

Is it the Back Bay Grill and Fore Street that are owned by the same people? They are very popular and busy restaurants. They may be a bit pushy to get their table back if there is a cruise ship in town. DiMillos is big, but still may be a good choice.

no they aren't owned by the same people - I don't think - the other restaurant that Fore St owns is the seafood restaurant I believe named Street and Company - We love Fore St....but I don't eat seafood so I can't help w/ a seafood restaurant from my perspective
