My family and I are going to Kauai for 6 days. My father and I want to go to Pearl Harbor. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or information on the best way to get there?

You can fly to Honolulu with very low fares on one of the following airlines:

Go, Hawaiian, Mokulele, Island Air

Go over on an early morning flight, then take a taxi or a city bus ($2.25) to the memorial, if thats the only place you're going on Oahu. It is very close to the Airport, maybe a mile. You could practically walk there if you don't have luggage!

If you plan to spend the whole day and see other sights on Oahu (which I reccomend), rent a car. Car rentals are cheap here. Go see Iolani Palace, Bishop Museum, the North shore, Pali Lookout, or Waikiki. If you like military things, you might enjoy Punchbowl. There are some nice murals depicting the WWII battles in the Pacific up there, in addition to the cemetery and views of Honolulu.

Don't get to the memorial too late though. Tickets are first come, first served and can run out by late morning. If you get there and are lucky enough to get a tour quickly, you can always visit the Bowfin submarine and the battleship Missouri afterwards.

Dusty is right. I was thinking how far it is along Nimitz, but the distance from airport terminal to Nimitz and from Kam Hwy into the memorial about triples that! Take the bus or a taxi.

But...I have walked it, and years ago used to ride this route on my bike several times a week.
