RAVE: Oldest child, our DS is home from college for the summer and earned a perfect, PAID research internship nearby!
RANT: DS's internship means only 3 or 4 long weekend trips for the griswold family this summer.
RAVE: Faith, family, friends. And i still believe that the majority of people in this world are genuinely GOOD.
RANT: WHY then, if the majority of people in the world are good, is our world in such chaos?
HAPPY MOM'S DAY TO ALL! As abe lincoln one said: "All i am or ever hope to be, i learned from my mother."

I'm joining late in the day (for me) on this but...
Rave: A few months ago I was really glad not to be Martha S. Now I am realy glad not to be Donald R. My life is not that messy, thankfully.
Rave: Faina and Ellen have again reminded me to enjoy my 13 yr old son while I have him (in spite of the fact that I can't get him to shower after hot, sweaty days)
Rave: My little Netherland dwarf bunny who is running all over my desk while I write this, stopping to lick my hand on the keyboard. A great, affectionate pet.
Rave and Reminder: I sent flowers to my Mom who is in an Alzheimer's center in TX. Makes me feel good, but she won't know who they are from when they read her the card. Enjoy your Mom's while you have them- not just being alive, but while they have their minds intact.
Rave: Ani's first mother's day- and she hasn't even ranted about being exhausted and crazed yet.
Rave: kikamom: have a glass of Cambria Julia's Vineyard pinot for me, and happy birthday!
Kikahead: What is that throwing the stale tortilla thing? Is it some regional tradition?
Dan: My mother-in-law got run over by a car and broke her hip a week before my wedding. She came to the rehearsal dinner in wheelchair and whacked on pain pills. We had to carry her int he wheelchair up a very narrow flight of stairs in a restaraunt on Capitol Hill. And it poured rain the next day for the wedding (they say that is god luck and means you are crying all your tears out at the start). I was pretty glad when it was over--it has been upbeat from there. Congratulations!

Aww emd, your post really touched my heart. I'm soo sorry to hear about your mom, that must be so hard. And you are so right with your reminder about truly and deeply appreciating our moms (and moms-in-love) while we have them. So glad your wedding story has had a happy ending, including your undoubtedly adorable squirrely son - i lvoe that age! There is just something delicious (altho difficult) about the middle school (a.k.a ALIEN) years!
bennie - definitely do graceland. Altho we're not real elvis fans it sure is an interesting and unique slice of 70s americana!
Suki - i hear you! Our dd is doing the junior prom thing next weekend... IF we can get thru the drama of this weekend!! Whoa!!!

Can I express my sorrow as I watch people being humiliated?
Can I express my outrage as I watch the images of our shame unfold?
Can I express my apologies as I see our American dream dragged in the dirt?
This is not a rant. I am weeping for America.

Rant: From what I've heard a lot of the abuse was caused by private contractors. Our military is stretched so thin that we are paying these guys up to $1,500 a day while our enlisted men and women are paid around $40 a day. Some how that just doesn't seem right.
Rave: The weather has been amazing this spring in California! My garden has never bloomed this much.

Rave: Celebrating my husband's grandmother's 99 b-day tomorrow.
Rave: Every day is happy mother's day thank's to my wonderful 12 year old son. The other day my neighbor told me I was doing something right in the way I raise him (her dog died, and my son stopped by to give her his condolences and see how she was doing). OK, enough bragging.........
Rants: None.
To EllenGriswold: I love this line from your post. It's going on my refrigerator: "As abe lincoln one said: "All i am or ever hope to be, i learned from my mother."
