Freaky Friday Rants 'n Raves - May 7

Rant: Fodors seems to be very creaky and cranky of late, especially this morning.

Rave -- but tepid: We knew Ross and Rachel would end up together, so it was just a question of how the writers would do it. Liked the plot twists to get Rachel back to Ross (especially the concession by the airline to provide "lots of phalanges" in response to the hysteria), very much liked the symbolism of everyone putting their keys on the counter as they left the apartment, liked the overall low-key tone (but twins?). Would have liked slightly more depth and drama in the Ross-Rachel mutual confession of love -- it was so brief after an hour of recap and 45 min. of build-up and ads. The Chandler-Monica engagement scene was such a gem, this was sort of "eh, yuh, they've said they'd be together forever before." Especially with Emma and Ben in the picture, shouldn't somebody have said the "M" word? I thought maybe Ross would get a job in a Paris museum...... Oh well, they didn't ask me. ;-) ;-)

I've been waiting for this since Tuesday!

Rave: I sold my house in San Jose (!) after 4 days on the market for a whisker over asking price to a preapproved buyer with no contingencies!
Rave #2: The houses value increased $60,000 in the 6 months I dragged my feet getting it ready to put on the market!
Rant: Sorry, can't think of a darn thing (that isn't political).

Congratulations Grasshopper - that's great ! Who says procrastination is bad.

Rave: Red Sox are winning again. The sun is shining.

My daughter celebrated her First Communion last Saturday and all went well. The little girls in their white dresses looked precious as did the boys in their navy blue blazers. I love that my fellow parishioners dress their kids fairly low key for the event. No veils, no white suits. The kids actually look like kids. And the party back at the house went well. The old folks sat under the tree while the kids ran through the yard. The guys stood around the grill while the women set out the salads etc. Typical American scene.

Rants: Going to Memphis for 1 week. Don't mind the trip but I'll miss my family. Maybe I'll actually get to Graceland this time.

Rave- If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the million who won't survive the week.

If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.

If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.

If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, especially in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all.

You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.

Rant-that after knowing all of these things, it's a constant struggle to remind myself that I'm lucky and forget the petty bitching. If rants are pet peeves-then people who talk in the movies get my top vote (they should be bound and gagged-and you know who you are!!) If those of you who do chat during a flick would be so bold as to tell us why you feel that you can intrude on others like you're in your own living room??? I'd love to know

Raves/Rants (can't decide):

Off today for b-day after working 16 straight days of 12 to 27 hr shifts for a project. I'm finally off, but it cost me one more year on the odometer.

Packing up the car, two 50 lb dogs, Mother's Day presents, leftover cake and the kitchen sink for a 4.5 hr drive home to St. Louis tomorrow. And another 4.5 hrs back on Monday. But it's still home.

Rant: that error message is annoying! Good it goes away after a couple of clicks on the same post!

Rave: we had coffee tasting at work this morning, we're getting better coffee, it means the company is doing better, and the annual increases are due at the end of the month. More vacation money

Rant: my younger son moved out a week ago. Rave: he came home with an empty backpack and "cleaned out" our refrigerator.

Rave: my older son called, he'll visit us this weekend.

Rant: my husband had his denture taken out by a dentist for some dental work.
Rave: he doesn't talk as much now

Rant: Busy weekend, swim meets, proms, Mother's Day brunch after church, then to Shaver Lake to kayak and have dinner, then back home for strawberry pizza with my family.

Off to Cambria for my birthday, I love that place! Hope to try some new places to eat there!

Rant: It's getting really hot here, already and the air quality has not been so great, either!!! Happy Mother's Day to all you terrific Moms out there!!! ***kim***

Rave: Beautiful day! Warm weather at last.

Rant: Daughter's junior prom this weekend and a new drama emerges daily. Friend trouble (who is going to whose after-party), boyfriend trouble (not allowed to go to anyone's after-party) and parent trouble (please stop crying we say, get some perspective we say) I will be happy when it is over.
