Freaky Friday Rants and Raves 5/28/04

IIIIIttttttt'ssssss FRIDAY!!!

Rave: Leaving for NYC in 12 hours for a great weekend w/daughter. Thanks to those who helped plan it (you know who you are).

Rave: Today I booked free hotel rooms in Yokohama and Kyoto w/Starwood points for 3/05 trip w/son. Got totally amazing deals for free (eg. stay 4 nights on points, get 5th night free and no points). Now can plan side trips and rest of trip itinerary. We are so looking forward to this. We are starting to follow Japanese baseball already.

Rave: 2 cyberspace fodors friends are traveling in Japan now.

Rave: Much better week than last week. The stressful work-related situation from last Friday turned out to be a "test" situation set up by a client to see how I would react under stress. I apparently performed well and I got the work. But have any of you ever been subjected to that type of stressful psychodrama? I felt sort of "set-up", but this is apparently becoming an increasingly popular method of checking out your character and reactions.

missjanna: Are you still employed? Saw your invite for pizza Sat. or Sun. We're going to Grimaldi's for early lunch on Monday, then to Jacque Torres Chocolate Factory, walk across the bridge, then to the airport.

hey everyone- et tu?

Is it Friday again already???

Rave: Daughter's new job is going great. We work for the same office, and I get to see a lot more of her now.

Rant: She hasn't even gotten her first paycheck, and she's already found an apartment (her first). She's hoping to move in next weekend, which means I'll be cancelling my gambling trip -- again.

Rave: Both kids asked if we can go to Cancun again next summer. (Oh, boy!) I'd really like to try someplace else, but anywhere in the Carribbean is fine with me! Prefer somewhere with a "party" atmosphere (for them) and great snorkeling (for me). I'll be asking for suggestions later on ...

Rant: What is up with Al Gore? Didn't he realize that when he endorsed Howard Dean he lost all credibility.

Rave: Got a Hole-In-One yesterday;-)

Rave- My son is out of the hospital and doing well! My family is all together and will be celebrating Memorial Day here.

Rave- My daughter has been notified by several college coaches that they will be watching her play this weekend at the soccer tournament she is playing in. One of the schools she is very interested in will be there.

A safe and lovely weathered holiday to you all. (Please don't drink and drive.)

emd, Yes, I have been subjected to that sort of setup/game playing: "Let's see how you react under stress." In my experience, clients like that are a pain in the neck and you'll regret working with them. They think they're very clever and insist that their opinion is right, even when they've hired you to be the expert. What ever happened to checking people's references to see how they react to REAL situations?! Good luck!

Rave: It's going to be a beautiful weekend up here in VT. Going to get the garden planted, go hiking, and go to my town's Memorial Day festivities.

Rant: We lost 2 of our VT Nat'l Guardsmen in Iraq this past week, so it's going to be an extra-meaningful Memorial Day in my town & in our state this year. My thoughts are w/all our troops over there...

RAVE: It's Friday and a long weekend
RAVE: I'm on vacation next week. Off to Naples Florida for some much needed R and R.
RAVE: it's a do nothing vacation, the only exertion I intend to partake of is rolling over on my beach chair
RANT: it's raining today but RAVE it's supposed to be a nice weekend.

Jersey: Sending good positive vibes from me to your son who is just out of rehab; he has a whole new life ahead of him.
And I recall your other son just graduated, and now your daughter is being scouted. That's a good week.

Hopefully next Memorial Day the U.S. will be more at peace.

Rave - Mother and Puppy are settling in well to their new home. The kids are loving them and are living up to their responsibilities - so far. Princess has been perfect. Fiona is less than perfect but so darn cute who cares.

Rave - All our servicemen and women who give up so much. You and your families are in our hearts always.

Rave - My church was spared from closing by the Archdiocese of Boston this week. I can still hope that I'll see my daughters walk down the aisle where they were baptized.

Rant - Stupid, self-serving, evil predators who sullied the Catholic Church and those that hid their crimes have caused 65 churches in the Boston area to be closed. My prayers are with those fellow Catholics whose parishes will be gone soon.

HI doc! Long ago my mother told me to place my faith in the Church - not the men who run it. She, as always, was right.

Changing the subject - how about those Sox? Don't you love Pokey!

Pokey is the best! But, Manny's attitude and performance is the best this year. He looks like he can carry the team this year. We need Derek Lowe to get his sinker down, and all will be well.

Isn't it great that pokey is batting higher than Jeter this year?

Doc - I didn't know Pokey is outhitting Jeter. That's great. My husband and I are going to our first game June 10. Can't wait to check out the changes to Fenway. Wish we had Monster Seats. Maybe someday.

RAVE: A heartfelt thank you to our Vets and all the service people who keep America free. God bless you!

RAVE: We are free to enjoy a three day holiday weekend1!

RANTS: None today. We are free and rich in life and liberty!!

(Bennie: I know what you mean about the Church My mom used to say something similar, except she said to always place my faith in *Christ*, not the Church as the Church is only the man-made home for believers.)

GOD bless America!

Rave: Thank you to our wonderful people in uniform who protect our freedom everyday. And to our Veterans, God bless you all!

Rant: Shame on those who would do things for political gain, even when it hurts/confuses the country!

Have a wonderful holiday, all!
