Freaky Friday Rants and Raves December 24

Rave: We'll be on holiday for a few weeks.

Rant: Censorship. The thread What happened to FREAKY FRIDAY rants and raves this new year???
http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...umresponses=45 has been disabled from replies. Why? Yes, the discussion had become political, but travel and politics are closely related. More closely than many threads in these forums.

My first rant - We had a fire yesterday and lost so many things.

Rave - No one was hurt.

HB--That post was a year old and the editors obviously decided enough was enough. They don't seem to pull threads unless things get nasty, and I for one think they're doing a pretty good job trying to keep up with everything.
---------
Rave: My husband and I are off to NY tomorrow for 4 days.

Rave: My SIL had twins on Wed.--so thoughtful of my niece and nephew to arrive in time for our visit! They're doing great and I'll get to see them for myself on Sat.

Rant: Price gouging by the rental car agencies. We're paying $100 for one day--for a compact car, no less--b/c we arrive on Xmas day and there's virtually noone open and thus no competition!

Rave: We're turning in that overpriced rental in the next day and then picking up another car from another agency at a much lower rate!

Rave: It's going to be cold but we'll bundle up and have fun anyway!

Rave: The wonderful friendships I've formed as a result of fodors; my amazing, supportive and generous husband; everyone in my family is healthy and my other friends are the best!

Happy Holidays, Everyone!

For those who suffered losses or had a difficult 2004, I wish you an easier 2005. I know the holidays can be hard sometimes.

A Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and I hope that for you who don't, that you have a day of quiet relaxation.

Rave- Today is a quiet family day. Going to see Polar Express and then baking cookies for tomorrows family gathering.

Rave- Leaving tomorrow for Florida after the family thing. Both youngest daughters will be playing in a soccer tournament in Florida.

Rant- One of the girls just had a scan for a stress fracture in her foot. We are awaiting results.

Rave- All are well in our home this day. And my big fat calico Mary, is home from the vet and doing well.

kybourbon-
My sympathies to you and your family. We will say a prayer of thanks that no one was hurt. I am so sorry for your loss.

Rave: Off to an early start to visit family this Christmas Eve Day.

Rave: My boys finished their semesters at college and they are relieved to be home for some TLC.

Rave: Spending a quiet Christmas Day at home making everyone's favorite meal, rouladen and dumplings.

Rave: The rain has stopped and a blast of cold air has hit us. Yes, it feels like Christmas

Rant: Watching a son struggling with difficult life decisions makes a mother want to cry.

Rant: Kybourbon, how terrible. I'm very glad no one was hurt. Peace to you and yours this holiday.

It's been nice getting *to know* many of you on Fodors. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

The holidays can be a difficult time for many. May peace and pleasant memories fill your hearts and may 2005 bring many happy travels with new friends, adventures and discoveries.

kybourbon - how awful for you - and how wonderful that nobody was injured.
Rave: all my kids and grandkids are coming on Boxing Day, including my eldest who was supposed to be in Europe but is coming here instead
Rant: The reason she's able to come is that she fell while rock-climbing and dislocated her knee
Rave: I've got two more days to get all the cooking and wrapping done
Rant: I've got bronchitis and my chest sounds like it needs a toilet plunger
Rave: The good friends around me, including some that I've found here on this board. Happy holidays to all!

Rave: On Monday my doctor's office at the Cleveland Clinic called and said I could come in this week for a flu shot.

Rant: By Tuesday I already had the flu. Dragging myself around all week. Cancelling most Christmas plans and invitations.
