Florida help
DH and I are planning a last trip before our baby arrives. We are planning on going the first part of May, and I will be about 26 weeks pregnant.
We are looking for an area with a nice beach, relaxing atmosphere, but where there are still some things to do.
We would like it to be fairly warm (mid 80s) for when we are on the beach, but don't necessarily want to just lay around all week.
Thanks!

It's 84 in Tampa today, and is expected to stay in the low 80's for weeks. I second the recommendation of Sarasota--gorgeous beaches in that area, good restaurants, plus the Mote Marine Aquarium and the Ringling mansion and museums. harrowgirl, you can search this forum for more info on Sarasota, Longboat Key, etc.

We rented a very nice first floor 2 BR/1 Bathcondo on Longboat Key from vrbo.com. It's right on the beach and within walking distance of the Publix shopping center. No pool, but there are plenty of places with pools on vrbo.com. I like condo rentals a lot better than a hotel room.

Another vote for Naples. And it will definitely be in the 80's - I think we have seen the last of 70's during the day until October (that's sad to us but good to the tourists!!)The beaches are great, lots of nice restaurants, shopping, etc.

You'll find mid 80's all up and down the FL Gulf coast (Tampa Bay area to Naples/Marco) in May and, 90% of the time, now as well. The coolest day this week in Tampa will be 81 on Saturday.
My two favorites for relaxation, plus good dining and shopping have already been mentioned...Sarasota and Naples with Naples getting the slight edge in dining and definite edge in shopping, but Sarasota getting the edge for their beaches. It's a beautiful time of year for a visit.

Naples is beautiful, we love La Playa, shich is right down the beach from the Ritz, but it is right on the beach. Lots ot see and do and you can take the trolly.
We always travel to this part of Fla (Naples or Captiva) end of April/first week of May and the weather is just perfect. It is just before the high heat/humidity/rain storms kick in and the skies are bright blue.
