Hi jwgibbs ... Since you have 14 nights there, I would do 5 nights Big Island, 5 nights either Maui or Kauai, 4 nights Oahu. If you're really into a lot of hiking, snorkeling, outdoorsy activities, I'd chose Kauai over Maui. I personally (also in our 60's, been to Hawaii 4 times, planning another trip in September), would do Maui. Have a wonderful trip!

What do the four of you like to do? That would help with suggestions.

Each island has it's own unique things to do and see so depending on what you like to do might help determine which island would best suit you.

Split your time equally between Oahu, Big Island & Maui.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

We are not partier's or sunworshiper's. More interested in nature, history & sightseeing. Thanks for asking this..

Any of the islands would work. IMHO spend part of the time in Kauai. It is by far my favorite island of all of the major islands.

Hi, jwgibbs7475. It sounds like a wonderful trip!

Since you like nature, history and sightseeing, I would recomend 6 nights on the Big Island (spending time on both coasts), 5 nights on Kauai (lots of hiking/nature/beautiful sites, and 3 nights on Oahu (definitely plan on seeing Pearl Harbor).

We have spent a whole week on Kauai before (plus 4 nights another time), and love it there. We spent 10 nights one time on the Big Island, and we could have stayed longer. We also love Maui, but I would save that for another trip, because on Kauai you will get more of nature, hiking, sites, and less tourists. Have fun planning!
