Fave Aspen, Colorado lodging when skiing not a consideration?
Looking for recommendations.
Staying on a weeknight in early October,
so expect to find availability/choices
*unlike* w/Boulder on a wknd. (where I've found *nothing*!)
So...that being the case...
am open & eager for suggestions!!
Just hubby & me...so don't require a kitchen, etc. A little romantic/sweet spot is just fine. Any nice bed & breakfast style place?
Or, can go for history/grandness, but am guessing the Hotel Jerome will be too expensive. (but will check) Price-wise...
can splurge a bit if you think it really worth it! On the *other* hand, we think we might get up at dawn, to try & catch the Maroon Bells w/morning light...
so in that case, would only having a short stay, alas. (like w/Boulder)
So, perhaps splurging makes zero sense, yet again.
Thanks for any faves you might send our way!

Mountain Chalet Aspen was a fantastic place for my husband and me a few summers ago. Excellent location, right next to the St. Regis in downtown, clean and comfortable lodging, excellent breakfast included, all at a very reasonable price. Check it out: http://www.mountainchaletaspen.com/

Thanks, will look into both of these
now that I can look at Aspen lodging.
Other places I've heard about, but am not sure about, so would welcome reviews on are: The Hotel Durant...
perhaps a fireplace suite, Hotel Lenado - a Smuggler Room w/woodstove, Sardy House & Hotel Jerome (only if a deal could be had w/these!) ;-)
and L'Auberge d'Aspen which some say are cute cabins right in town...others say, it's downright awful. (via Tripadvisor)
If anyone has stayed at any of these, too, please share! Thanks so much!
