Dog friendly in Hot Springs/Eureka Springs, AR
We are wanting to take a weekend trip to the Hot Springs or Eureka springs area with our one year old and dog. Does anyone have recs for a good place to stay that would be around the river/hiking? We are looking mid May and have never been to Arkansas.

Bear Mountain Cabins might be an option. They allow pets and the amenities are unique. Sodas, popcorn, and a basket of breakfast foods are furnished. Keep in mind the breakfast foods are ready for you to prepare and include eggs, etc.. I think the cabin name was Shelyne and it was well kept, peaceful, in a very natural setting.

There are some good hiking trails on Lakes DeGray, Catherine, and Ouachita and are located 20-30 minutes from Hot Springs. Housing options include cabins, condos, lodges, and hotel rooms. Do you want to be "in the woods" or close to retaurants, shopping, etc..? Letting us know your preferences will help in giving guidance and recommendations.

We would like a little more secluded/ around a river would be nice. We will also be traveling with our 13month old. Our basic thought is to relax and do some hiking. I have looked at Lake Catherine and Lake Hamilton. Think Eureka Springs is only about 1 1/2 hours more so not bad either. (We are coming from Texas)

The trail at Lake Catherine State Park is beautiful. They rent cabins but they are not fancy. No phone or tv just basic necessities like a bed, bath, and kitchen. You could always stay in Hot Springs or Malvern and drive to Lake Catherine. It is less than a 30 minute drive. I think Eureka Springs would add at least 3 hours to your trip one way.

Mountain Harbor Resort on Lake Ouachita is pet friendly. It's about 30 minutes outside of Hot Springs. http://mountainharborresort.com/lodging/

Here's a good place to begin: http://www.arkansas.com/. Hot Springs is in the Ouachita region and there are plenty of things to do here. Check out the trail locator map: http://www.arkansas.com/outdoors/hiking/map.aspx?type=H.

I've been saving this site for a long time...don't know if it'd fit your bill.

We stayed on Beaver Lake. I'd recommend Lake Shore Cabins. Their cabins are right on the waterfront, if you're looking for Eureka Springs Lodging.

You could also rent a house at Hot Springs Village. It's about 8 miles from Lake Ouachita State Park and even closer to hiking trails in the Ouachita National Forest. Almost all of the HSV Realtors have vacation rentals.
