Waterfront cottage rentals near Eastham, MA

Hello,
My husband and I will be attending a work-related seminar in Eastham, MA, from August 4-18, 2012. We'd like to find a rustic cottage/apt. on the ocean to rent. We don't need luxury, just cozy with kitchen.
The seminars run from 9am-noon daily. We don't mind traveling a bit to get to the seminar held at the Four Points by Sheraton, Eastham.
What suggestions do you recommend?
Thanks.

Do you want to be on the Ocean or the bay?

There are very rustic but beautifully set cottages overlooking the ocean in Wellfleet, I think called Wellfleet Cottages. They are about 15 minutes from the conference place. It is maybe too late though for availability in August.

Which do you recommend...ocean or bay? We like both.

The ocean is much colder. The water will only be in the mid 60s at best. In Eastham (where I am right now) it's only about four miles across so easy to get from one side to another. The ocean side has the National Seashore so houses/cottages near/on the ocean are extremely limited.

Thanks, It seems then that we'd prefer the bay side. Are there cottages there that you'd suggest?

The bay is nice. Much warmer and lovely sunsets and you can walk for miles. Anything with a view will be more $$$. Short walk to water is not as much. If you want to email me the address is the mikster70 at hotmail.

I think a bay-side rental in Eastham or Wellfleet is your best bet... we've had good results with Cape Cod Realty -- visit their website to get an idea of vacation rental possiblities.

Also you might want to visit vrbo.com, of course.

Even if you don't rent on the 'ocean side' make sure you allow yourself time for some long walks along the National Seashore beaches. They're gorgeous.

Also, nearly all waterfront rentals will cost you a small fortune during the high season, waterview being the next most expensive. There aren't that many waterfront and waterview rentals available, actually. Better start your search soon! Rentals go from Saturday to Saturday.

Thanks everyone for your input. My husband and I have changed our plans for this year's seminar on Cape Cod. Hopefully, we'll be able to come another year. Your suggestions and information have been very helpful.

If you decide to return to Eastham and want a special ocean view cottage in the National Seashore take a look at Fort Hill Bed and Breakfast. It is just 5 minutes from the NEEI workshops and is a Fodor's Choice for 2012.
