Disney World Florida moderate hotel ?
Clean....convenient to Disney World...pool....
Looking for a February location/hotel/motel/ for 2 seniors NEAR Disney World, Florida. No frills. Moderate price point - under $125 per night. We won't be in room but for sleeping.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Suzy

I would suggest you go to a site like hotels.com, enter your dates and the price range. Lot of options - you might even find a room on the disney property at one of their value resorts if you book far enough in advance. Key is how far you are willing to be from the parks and if you'll be using a rental car or shuttles. If you are renting a car and driving into the parks, be sure to add around $12/day to park there...it might be cheaper to up the hotel rate and not pay for parking.

We stayed at Homewood Suites Lake Buena Vista in Feb and thought it was a good deal, and an easy drive to the parks. This year we'll stay a little closer at the DoubleTree for around $129/night. You likely won't use an outdoor pool in Feb.

For that budget, I'd actually look at a WDW resort, perhaps Art of Animation. It's far from the parks, but if you have a car, that's not a problem.
If you would be willing to go a bit higher, you can stay at the Doubletree Lake Buena Vista, which is within walking distance of Downtown Disney. There's bus service to the parks, though it's slow and not convenient. But it's a nice hotel (breakfast is really expensive, though). And since it's right at the edge of Disney property you can get out for dinner pretty easily if you have a car.

I would definitely look into staying at a WDW property. You'll be able to find a non-discounted value hotel at that price point and probably will be able to find a moderate one with a discount. Sign up for emails and see what offers become available. We stayed on property last year (Animal Kingdom Lodge) and it was so nice to just be able to hop on a bus to get back and forth - as often as you want.

We stayed at this property in December 2010 on a very good deal of $99 per night, which we found on Travelzoo. You can probably get on their mailing list for deals. It is condos with kitchens, very nice, and a free breakfast in the lobby.

I just checked some early February dates and you could stay at Disney's Pop Century Resort for $105 a night in a standard room or $120 in a Preferred Room (better location). Coronado Springs (a moderate resort) is currently $176 a night in early February. These prices will go down if Disney offers a discount at that time (very likely). Staying onsite would always be my first choice.
Have fun! My friend and I (both seniors) went to Disney at the end of February this year. Had a great time. I have been to Disney many, many times, but my friend hadn't been there in 40 years.
