need some "freebie" playtime on arrival night. Do you know which WDW resorts have the best playgrounds for preschoolers?

The Contemporary has an awesome game room! Video games, interactive games such as pop-a-shot, air hockey, etc.

While it isn't a playground, we have always gone to Disney Marketplace when we arrive. There is so much to see and get into the Disney spirit. If it is warm enough, my children used to love playing in the splashing fountains.

Now that I am typing this, I am not sure if it is called Marketplace...it is where the Lego store and the huge Disney store is...

I second the Marketplace. Also, Port Orleans Riverside has a big playground and the Yacht/Beach Club has a playground on the "beach".

For a preschooler, my definition of 'best' is one that doesn't require a long drive to or from hotel.

A good playground right near my hotel room or hotel pool always rates high on my list, especially after a long trip to get there.

Here, in my opinion, is the coolest free thing at WDW. There is a free sing-along at the Walt Disney world Wildnerness lodge campground every night. A lady w/ a guitar led the sing-along and Chip & Dale are there greeting the kids. You can buy s'mores kits at the snack bar right there for under $5 (2 sticks, chocolate, graham crackers, & marshmallows) to do at the two fire pits they have right at the sing-along. Then, right afterwards, they show a Disney movie right there on the big outdoor screen. You can get the month's movie schedule on the camping forum at disboards.com - it is always one of the top threads.

The Fort Wilderness Lodge campground also has a petting zoo and pony rides for a small fee but those end early - maybe 3PM or 5pm - something like that.
