Cut-rate accommodations

Hello,
We just spent five weeks in Australia and New Zealand. While there, we used a internet site, Wotif.com, to get really great rates on different types of accommdations. Some days I would go to an interent cafe and arrange for a hotel for that very night, using the site. It is a great site. It is also good in New Zealand and England. But when I tried using it here in the States, the company doesn't offer very many choices or in some cities, no choices at all.
My question----does anyone know of a site, simular to Wotif, that offers the same type of rates here in the States?
Thanks!

Another idea....was doing some checking and found this:

accorhotels.comau/corporate/accorhotels.asp

go to their site and on the right side of the page is "Accor Worldwide" (dropdown). There is listed other hotel Accor hotels...i.e. Red Roof, Motel 6, among others...

Might be of some help.

Not exactly sure what you're looking for - just budget lodging - you have some info above - or nicer lodging at bargain prices. For that your best bet would be Priceline - assumng there are 2 of you (they only guarantee rooms with beds for 2 people). Depending on season and availability you can get nice hotels at 1/2 or less of rack rate. But availability varies a lot.
