Cruise on the Potomac recommendations

My mom, sister and I are heading to DC March 29-April 1 to see the apple blossoms. We are going on a two day tour bus to several areas that have been mentioned. However, we'd like to go on a evening cruise-have a recommendation on areas to see, best cruise company, etc?? We seem to always take short cruises as we did in Hawaii and Chicago and feel like we get a wonderful view of the city. Suggestions? Are we asking for it by visiting during the Apple Blossom Festival? What is your blooming prediction? Thanks and I look forward to the tour!

The Cherry Blossoms are projected to bloom April 1 thru April 7. Definitely will be lots of tourists in town during that time. There are a couple cruises you can take up the Potomac River which will give you nice views of DC. Check out Odyssey Tours at

or Spririt Cruises at http://tinyurl.com/yvzd3m or the

I don't really know if there is that much difference on the Potomac River cruises, but don't do this because you think you are going to get great views of the city from a boat down on the Potomac. You will see some buildings along the edge of the river, and maybe a few of the monuments a little. But you can't get a great view of the city from a boat down on the river.

I'm not being rude, but I rather enjoy the idea of three game gals searching high and low for apple blossoms, doggone it, in the middle of the cherry blossom fest! ;-)

The azaleas might be in bloom, too. The National Park Service is predicting that the cherry blossoms will be in bloom for the festival (April 1-7). They are so pretty when they're in bloom - I think it's worth braving the crowds.

Got to agree with Christina about the cruises. I suggest going to the Kennedy Center instead.

Or, how about trying the nighttime tours of the lighted monuments. The perpective is much different than in the daytime -- quite lovely. Try googling DC night tours for companies.

There are dinner cruises that leave from the Southwest boat dock in season. There are a number of companies.

I found this link that might be helpful to you:
