River cruises
Looking for river cruises that: are historic, cultural and allow lots of moderate walking on shore. For about 10 days+ on any river in Europe/ Eastern Europe.
1. Affordable
2. Not luxurious
3. Relaxing and fun
Please

Ask on the cruise forum also. Then, look carefully at all reviews. Some rivers are more prone to flooding or low water levels, forcing river cruises to become land cruises. Some times of year are better in that respect than others. Some rivers are better. Also, look at docking situations. Some boats tie up together, limiting views, and some docks are in industrial areas, making it difficult to go off on your own. Do a lot of research before making a decision.

There is a cruise forum on fodors. Just look at the top of this very page you are looking at. It is a pull down menu labeled "Change Forum".
A more extensive forum for cruise is www.cruisecritic.com.

We did a Gate 1 Danube River Cruise a couple of years ago and had a fabulous time. The cruise part was 7 days but we did a 3 day pre cruise in Prague and a 2 day post cruise in Budapest.
