Clean ,comfortable inexpensive room with kitchenette

I should have mentioned in my other post we picked The Waikiki Prince mainly for location but would do the same at any Island in Hawaii but will not be renting a car so need similar location near Beach and grocery store.

The Breakers Waikiki is $150 a night. That might be as low as you'll find. Hopefully, suze will see this thread - she stays in Waikiki in fairly simple accommodations (although I don't know if the places she stays have kitchens)

The Royal Grove Hotel has kitchenettes in the room. Royal Grove is closest to the beach but very popular so hard to get a reservation (don't use their website which always shows fully booked, call them on the phone).

White Sands Hotel on Nohonani is a lovely place for the price. My room had a full kitchen and huge patio overlooking the pool. The staff there is great (they have lots of the people from the old Hawaiiana Hotel now closed).

Waikiki Sand Villa (no kitchenette but small frig) and right next to Food Pantry Grocery store. It sits back overlooking the canal so about a 10 mins. walk to the beach. Fantastic pool area.

In my opinion these are the best 3 budget hotels in Waikiki. They price out between $95-$150/night once the taxes are on.

They are all a little cheaper than The Breakers. Plus The Breakers has gotten a number of pretty negative reviews just recently, so I've quit including it on my recommendations.

Check Trip Advisor review section about all 4 of these.

oh i should include my disclaimer... I don't like hotel chains or modern high-rises.

All of my favorites listed are "old school" in feeling. Royal Grove is pink and ~6 stories. White Sands is 3 stories situated around a garden pool courtyard. Sand Villa is 12 stories, family-run with a lot of aloha.

Not a problem

You can't change an Original Post after it's up, but you can add a reply, like you just did, like everyone else does.

aloha, suze

Since when is $150 and $200 per night less expensive than the $110 per night that he already found?
Book the Waikiki Prince while you still can, warsher, you won't find anything at that price and you already know and like the hotel. The cancellation policy is 3 days before arrival so you have nothing to lose.

Finding any kind of reasonably priced room in Waikiki, in a nice hotel, with a decent pool, is a hobby of mine. Happy to share what I know!!

clarkgriswold, So you telephoned them and asked?

Like I *clearly* said in my post above about Royal Grove, their website always shows no vacancy. You need to telephone to make a reservation.
