Such a surprise to see this question. We live in Chico and love to go out to dinner. Our favorite is the Black Crow in downtown Chico. We have traveled many places and eaten in great restaurants many places, but the Black Crow is by far our favorite. Request Michelle, Rayanne or Josh for your waitperson. They do a great job on fresh fish and pastas. Have a great evening! Tell them hello from Trish and Mark!

So happy to hear you enjoyed the Black Crow. We are so grateful to have a great and fun restaurant in Chico. It can be a bit noisy but usually their specials are wonderful. Sierra Nevada is fun, especially if you like beer. A great place for lunch, also, their food seems to improve each year. Try it! P.S. What did you have for dinner at the Black Crow?

In response to retiring in Chico. Yes, it is a lovely town with a lot to offer, but it is growing very fast and losing some of its charm. It would depend on the climate as to where you live if you would think Chico has hot summers. The past few years they have not been as hot, nor the heat as dry. Housing compared to the Bay Area is reasonable, but has gone up considerably this past year. Paradise seems to be the town where people like to retire. Cooler, more trees and not as crowded. If you have any more questions, let me know.

We would be coming from Minnesota. I have lived in Phoenix before, and I don't want it quite that hot! Looking for moderate winter weather, but can't afford the coastal towns. Ojai looks really neat, but I am concerned about housing expense anywhere in California. I can't imagine retiring in too small a town to have any cultural interests nearby, but I am afraid that is what I will need to do to get any reasonable real estate. Where can you move in California and expect to get a reasonably decent home for under $275,000 and still have a big enough city for cultural interests? Thanks!
