Chicago Hyatt Regency on Wacker- any input?

My family and I are staying at the Hyatt on Wacker Drive in late June. Any feedback on the hotel? I've heard a couple stories of the parlor rooms and wonder if anyone has first-hand knowledge. Thanks.

I've stayed in the regular rooms at the Hyatt and overall, everything was fine. I have stayed in the Parlor rooms at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. If the Chicago Hyatt Parlor Rooms (may be called Parlor Suites) are similar, these are good for people who need to use their rooms for business reasons during the day. Otherwise, just get a regular room.

Stayed there with my girls last year for 80 bucks/night. Very nice- it is at the end, or beginning, of the Mag Mile, so you'll do some walking. Breakfast was quite pricey- they don't eat enough to justify spending that.

Yes, I got a room through PL for $46. We plan to walk a bit. What's the situation for parking at/near the hotel?

Valet parking is the best deal. A bit pricey, but just about the only option. Dick's Lasr resort is across the river from the Hyatt. It is a lot of fun with a band, probably Dixieland, and there was a place upstairs with more modern music. Bennigans, up the street is good as is the steakhouse in the Hyatt. See a play, and visit Lincoln Avenue at night for a variety of clubs in a safe environment, take a cab rather than drive at night to avoid parking problems, space is at a premium. Have a great time.

My husband and I had half a parlor room (the door between the rooms was locked) overlooking the river and lake Michigan. It was a really great location for the price. I walked all over the place, I wore myself out actually. There are plenty of things to do/ places to eat nearby. If you want to see a lot of different attractions I recommend getting a trolley ticket. It's a tourist friendly (non-scary) way to see a lot of places without killing your feet.

There are many good restaurants in Chicago so I wouldn't go to Bennigan's -- unless you go for lunch.

Suzy: Amen. But, I wouldn't even go to Bennigan's for lunch. Dick's Last Resort is a corny touristy place, too.
