Seattle Bar Scene

Hi there, contemplating going to Seattle this fall with my fiance' and was wondering what the bar scene is like in the Seattle downtown area. We're looking for restaurants and bars that have a 25-40ish crowd, thanks!

Seattle's scene is definately not as happening as other cities but there are still some good venues.

Tini Biggs (lower Queen Anne) is a fantastic martini bar and next door is Watertown which is DJ music for the 30+ crowd.

Pampas Club is downstairs of El Goucho (Beltown) and usually has live jazz. Very swank (for Seattle).

Cyclops (across the street) is a small restaurant with a great bar.

Pioneer Square area has a few with different types of live music- Larry's Blues Cafe, New Orleans and the Bohemian.

If you have a certain type of atmosphere I might be able to give you better ideas.

I'm looking for gay and lesbian bars. I assume there aren't many bars in the immediate downtown near the water?

carrie, you really should get your question straight(pardon the pun)
If you are gay and you mention a fiancee, how is anyone supposed to know what the hell you are talking about?
Be clear and save others the time.

Carrie, I'm not aware of any gay bars near the water. Capital Hill is the best place for them. Check out: http://seattle.citysearch.com/search?type=grid&flavor_id=5&cw2=13&histoindex_left=cw2&sorted=rank-desc&context=&histo_name=Gay%20%26%20Lesbian&cslink=cs_filter1

Also I just heard of a new place called Blu which is suppose to be great.

Someone posted under my name, not gay, sorry for the confusion! I was suprised how someone can take over your identity so easy here b/c passwords aren't needed.

Thanks for the advice, I'll go with the first reply. Those bars seem like our scene, more relaxing, martini, cigar, bars. We also like local yocal college type bars too, thanks in advance!

Carrie,

You may also want to check out Owl and Thistle, Kell's, J&M Cafe and Crocodile for more college crowd. All are in the Pioneer Square, Market and Beltown area. You can check with the newspaper the Stranger to tell you who has live music and cover charges once your in town.
