Try The Talbott Hotel on Delaware. The Hotel is so nice and has a wonderful restaurant and bar on the ground floor. Very updated...Aveda products...great location (right of Rush Street and down the street from The Four Seasons and The Whitehall). Usually great rates...but if the convention is big they could be high. I usually get a rate of 169-249 for a King room....good luck!

The Intercontinental is an option. They sometimes have great specials. It is a great location to MI ave etc..
Also try Palmer House (owned by Hilton Hotels) It is a beautiful hotel and a real treat.

Thanks to all who recommended hotels. We ended up staying at the Hilton Palmer House. Wow, what a beautiful hotel, it is still undergoing some renovations but none that interfered with our stay.
