I didn't look at the other threads, so my apologies if this information is redundant. We took two walking tours with this company, the Savannah Stroll and the Ghost Tour. Both were very interesting and informative. Had we had more time, I would have taken a few more. I also loved the Bonaventure cemetery. There are tours available, or you can visit on your own.

You are going in HIGH (flower) season in Charleston (maybe any time is!! LOL). You really want to stay downtown near or in the historic district--so nice to walk and enjoy the ambience. If you are including a weekend in your time it is probably expensive also. You can look in Mt. Pleasant but you'll have to drive into town and park. Look at hotels.com.
I will say that you do NOT want to stay in N. Charleston. It is very rough. We did stay one night in order to be there for the eclipse so I know from experience!!
