Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA Trip

My wife and I are looking to take a trip in April to Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA. We're in our early 60's. Looking for things to do and good restaurants to eat at.
We like tours and sightseeing, but welcome all ideas. We're very mobile - love to walk.

In Savannah, make a reservation for dinner at The Pink House.

There are probably just short of a jillion threads about Charleston and Savannah here. LOL Here is one still active. https://www.fodors.com/community/uni.../#post16681271

But be assured you are visiting in THE most beautiful season of the year. I'd look for reservations now--it will be popular time.

Hi
I would recommend the open air bus tour in Savannah...it was very informative about the history.
It’s a fun town to walk with the cobblestone streets and cute shops.
In Charleston I would recommend the aquarium which is walking distance from downtown. A harbor boat tour is interesting if you want a quick history lesson of the city. My favorite dinner place is Magnolias although there are many many others. The outdoor market is downtown and fun to walk through too.
You can always take a quick drive to the beach about 20 minutes.

When in Charleston check out some of the smaller areas like Shimp Creek.

I think it is Shem Creek. Just to be sure they look for the right thing.

If you haven't booked hotels yet, I can recommend the French Quarter Inn (Charleston) and the Andaz (Savannah). Both ideally located and pricey but worth it. In Charleston, we enjoyed eating at SNOB and Hall's Chophouse. Strolling is nice in good weather and there is much history here: the old Slave Mart and Fort Sumter. Both are lovely cities, but Savannah has a gritty underside so be smart about walking around at night. Check out Leopold's Ice Cream in Savannah and Zunzi's amazing Chicken Conquistador sandwich for lunch. The Paris Market in Savannah was a fun place to shop.

Just got back from Savannah. I recommend taking a tour of Pin Point. They are only open Thursday thru Saturday. First tour is at 1030. We arrived around 10 and stayed about two hours. Gullah geechee history...hope I spelled that correctly.

Savannah is very walkable, and if you get tired, you can jump on a free DOT bus.

Had nice lunches at Cafe M, Mobay Island Cuisine (need to drive to Pooler), and Joe's Homemade. Joe's is very tiny. Lunch was great. I'd skip dessert. Dinners were at Pink House and The Public. No complaints at all. Very good food.
