What sorts fo things are you interested in? Does the 10 days include your arrival and departure days?

Perhaps at the end of March, you should go south of LA. There are 70 miles of beaches. On March 30 the Beatles Fair with Pete Best and Ringo Starr will be there. On the 31st the Uncorked wine Fair starts.
Consider riding an Amtrak Surfliner train to go to San Diego instead of renting a car and maybe getting lost

The National Parks in southern California include Joshua Tree and Death Valley. If you go to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon you might encounter snow in late March. Any desire to go to Las Vegas?
The other amusement park that my grandkids go to is Magic Mountain near Santa Clarita north of LA.

OK - so you have 8 full days free - correct? If you want to visit Disneyland/California Adventure (2 full days) and Universal (most of one full day) you really don't have time for the Grand Canyon or Yosemite or other distant parks. Death Valley and/or Joshua Tree would be semi doable.

You could squeeze in the Grand canyon if you fly to Phoenix and stay one night on the south rim before flying back - but at this late date you likely won't find accommodations there.

San Diego is a gret fit however. The weather should be pleasant but not really 'beachy'.

I'd want two nights (or even 3) in Anaheim or somewhere else nearby in Orange County, and the divide the rest equally between LA and San Diego.

What about Sequoia/Kings Canyon? You'd most likely be required to carry tire chains in your rental vehicle, but if you rent a 4WD vehicle you wouldn't actually need to put them on. I think that park would be more interesting than a desert park given that you're coming from Dubai. Obviously if there's a major storm (maybe even if there's a minor storm) you may need to rethink this idea so you aren't driving in snow/ice, but it's definitely worth looking into.

Anza Borrego State Park is also nice and relatively near San Diego, if you decide to head south of LA.

For a national park visit, I would go to Joshua Tree. The weather will be nice, no issues with snow, and it is close enough that you won't have to shortchange other things to visit.

The ending LA part is fine, the rest is impossible. There is no way in the world you can drive from Yosemite to Sequoia Park then to Las Vegas, then to Hoover Dam and then to Phoenix in one day. You also cannot drive from Phoenix to San Diego to LA in one day. Well, not unless you only wanted to spend all day in the car, so in that case, why go to San Diego. Why are you going to Phoenix in the first place just to sleep overnight and leave?

I agree with Christina. Your itinerary is way too ambitious. Too many one nighters. You will need a vacation when you get home. The western US is vast with long distances between the sites you listed.

bless786, I think you may have underestimated how large California is and how spread out things are. The drive from LA to San Diego is about 2.5 hours. It's approximately 7 hours from LA to San Francisco. San Francisco to Yosemite is about 4.5 hours. Yosemite to Las Vegas is about 8 hours. Phoenix to San Diego is about 6 hours. Your itinerary has you spending a great deal of time in a car and not much time in each place. I understand the desire to see and do as much as possible since you're traveling a great distance, but that itinerary is very ambitious, and quite honestly, pretty exhausting, especially with children. My suggestion for you and your family is to focus on either Northern California or Southern California. Considering the ages of your children, the trip will most likely be more enjoyable if you stick to Southern California with visits to Disneyland, Universal, San Diego, and perhaps Joshua Tree.

I was calculating mileage and posting and missed the last two posts . . .

You do NOT have enough time. Especially driving. And Yosemite needs to be off the table entirely. You need to book far ahead and if there is snow you won't be able to get there.

Stick to Southern California.

Yosemite and Kings Canyon/Sequoia will almost certainly be still snowed in by the time you want to go there. If they are not, there will have been a flood because of rapid snowmelt. The Sierras are getting FEET of snow this week.
The only way I could picture getting to Las Vegas to see Hoover dam would be to fly there and rent a car there. You sure don't have the time to go to Phoenix if you want time in San Diego. janisj is so right.
You really don't want to drive across the Mojave Desert either way.

There is a zip line under the over street light show on the Fremont Street Experience (downtown). They might enjoy a ride up LV Blvd in "The Deuce" double decker bus. Along Fremont St. is the Golden Nugget Casino which has the world's largest gold nugget on public display (62+ lb). Upstairs at the Golden Nugget is my favorite LV all you can eat buffet (cheaper before 3 PM).

Some friends and I took our kids to see a Cirque du Soleil show Mystere at Treasure Island and they loved it. My daughter also liked to watch the water show at the Bellagio.
