Charleston nightlife

Where are some good places for a couple of middle aged ladies and their 70-year old mother to go have a couple of cocktails? Just looking for some place fun where the locals hang out. We're not looking for men and don't care about jazz. Maybe a fun piano bar or place overlooking the water or something. Any suggestions?

I would recommend the rooftop bar of the Planters Inn Hotel. It is right on the water and gives you a very nice view. The staff is pleasant and the atmosphere is exactly right.

Enjoy.

I believe Catherine is talking about the rooftop bar at the Vendue Inn. I went there with my mother and aunts (all 65 and up) and we had a wonderful time. Also, if you are in the mood for dessert and cocktails/wine/coffee then try Kaminsky's on North Market Street.

Rooftop of the Market Pavilion Hotel. It's beautiful up there. Also, Blossom Cafe' on Meeting Street and Tristan in the French Quarter hotel are great for cocktails.
