Carmel Hyatt Highlands Inn-Time Share Invite

Just received from Hyatt an offer for $79 per night if we take a "mandatory sales tour". I know there are strings attached etc but has anyone done this? Is it worth putting up with the 90 minute presentation?

have you ever attended a time share presentation--I think you are gtting a pretty good deal--even during the off-season I can't get aroom there for less than $175, generally more

so you are saving $100+ per night

We also just received this offer. I was just about to book La Playa, but this sounds really nice. We've stayed at the Highland's Inn several times, it's a gorgeous property.

N2it, I think we should go for it! What's 90 minutes, huh? ***kim***

We got the same offer and are DEFINITELY doing it! We did one last year in Palm Springs and it was totally worth it! The Highlands is where movie stars stay in Carmel and I have talked to people who live there and say that $79 is dirt cheap for that place. Definitely take advantage!

I received the offer also. It would be fun to take advantage of it. Does anyone know how high pressure the sale is?

I just booked our stay for three nights in August. They said all of the summer months are open right now. He also told me that the presentation will not go one second over the 90 minutes or you are free to walk away.

These rooms you get to stay in are now going for $375/night. They are the oceanview, jacuzzi rooms with fireplaces, living area and kitchen. Sounds very nice! ***kim***

Thanks for your responses! The time share "sell" can be somewhat intense but reasonable people (not necessarily time share sales people) understand that such a financial decision can't be made on the spot! Just be prepared to receive a few follow-up calls after arriving home (and more time share mailers)! We did the routine in Kuai and "escaped", no worse for the wear, after staying at a great resort and with a deeply discounted helicopter tour. We'll go for this one and see what happens.

We stayed at the Highlands Inn last month. It is a fabulous facility. We had great views of the ocean from our lenai. The normal rate is $225 a night. The rooms had a complete kitchen. The restauant "Pacifics Edge" is one f the top 10 on the West Coast. Food was fantastic and the view great. The sales presentation was professional and was not high pressure. It took no more than 90 minutes and was well worth it. We had done another time share presentation in Branston, MO a few weeks earlier that was the time share presentation from Hell! Those people wouldn't take "no" for an answer. And all we got there were tickets to a third rate show and a free dinner. It was not worth it.

Is this the same Highlands Inn where the California Market restaurant is located? With the good fish tacos?

Hi ellen! Yes, the California Market and Pacific's Edge are both located at the Highland's Inn. The fish tacos are very, very yummy! ***kim***

Thanks Kim, looking for the hyatt should make it easier to find. Anything else we should know, dress code? It is dining al fresco though, isn't it?

The California Market (casual one) has both indoor and outdoor dining options. We like to sit outside (there are heat lamps if it's chilly) and take in the gorgeous views of the coastline. The views from the indoor dining room are also very pretty.

Pacific's Edge is much more formal and elegant. We like to "dress up" for dinner there, but I don't think there is any formal dress code, so to speak. ***kim***

We booked for two nights in late April at the $79/nite rate plus tax. The total came to $174.60. Thanks for the tips about the California Market and Pacific Edge! We're looking forward to our say.I'm sure we will wind up spending $174 a day on food but what the heck!!! Don't you all love the Fodors Talk Board? We've learned so much from Fodors posters about so many different places in the world.

Hi all, we just did the "timeshare sale" gig at Hilton Head Islands Marriott propertys and got an awesome rate right on the beach for attending the 90 minute sales deal. It was so worth it!! Just be firm and tell them you are not interested. The one we went to was very low pressure and no big deal at all!!
