chocho - there may be really good reasons for your feelings about your in-laws - I certainly have what I consider really good reasons for have serious issues with my in-laws. In fact, my first thought if my SIL were ever to marry would be "who would have her". I can empathize with your stress.
If you have a little kid, you probably have not been married as long as I have (25 years). It took me about 15 years to realize that no matter what, my in-laws and I were going to only tolerate each other, at best. And once I realized that, it became easier to make decisions for my family based on what worked for us, not what we were ordered to do by in-laws (my husband just wanted to whole matter to go away)
By the time you read this, your trip will likely be underway. My final suggestion is to remember that a few drinks at the reception may make your in-laws look a little better, if only temporarily.

Gail your last line is just too funny !!
I agree w/ Gail - after being married 25 yrs, ....
you learn quickly you are part of an extended famiy but have your immediate family and children of which you are the one who is responsible for doing what works for them and you.
Transporting a baby; not only this trip but for others:
The baby is your responsibility
Anything the baby needs is your responsibility
In particular, all safety concerns.
You need your own car, and babies own car seat.
You may need to go somewhere with that baby, you may even need to take her to the hospital or a doctors or you may need to get somthing at a store -
you need to go when you need to go somewhere and not be at the mercy of anyone concerned or involved in the wedding -
if you can't afford it, that's another issue.
if it is just too much for you and the baby, that's another issue.
There were several weddings in our family when we had babies in the house. Sometimes I didn't go, sometimes my husband didn't go - couldn't get babysitters, coudn't do the travel, baby was sick or teething or whatever -or got that high fever an hour before we were supposed to leave and one or both of us didn't go (like the pneumonnia run to the hospital the day before a wedding weekend)
Start taking charge of you and your baby.

I'd like to commend all of you for trying your best, but as you can see it does no good.
I have made the clothes for over 100 weddings...bride, maids, mothers, grooms, and any combination thereof, and can confirm that weddings bring out the worst in people. Even though I kept a journal venting about one horrifying blessed event after another, I found myself one fall Saturday -- just as the dresses were ascending to the altar -- at my first therapy session begging for some medication.
So once again I hail you for your persistence and thoughtfulness, you are saints.

Boy this bride really is messing with Chocho-- A week ago, the wedding was on a friday, and now it is on Sunday instead:
*********************************!2. what is the best thing to do; the wedding is on a friday at the holly hedge estate.
3. after the wedding we plan to stay till sunday and leave sunday back to toronto.
4. we are on a tight budget; we are travelling with a baby. yes we can have the rent a car as a option, but where can we stay?
5. is it advisable to fly to newark or philly?
6. baically, we will be doing LOTS of visiting around once the wedding is over friday. all our visiting areas are:
lambertville, willingboro, new hope. so what do you think its best to do.
men, i guess brides do change their mind alot! i hope she doesnt change things again, its messing with our schedule.
************************************ Poor SIL....nothing better to do than mess with her new SIL's schedule. Guess she's got nothing better to do on her wedding weekend!
I vote for troll!
