Ryan - of course if it is discovered that a hotel employee is stealing they are fired, but disclaimers on hotel valet stubs and posted notices - which are on EVERY hotel in Las Vegas and in most other cities - DO absolve them from responsibility and put the risk back on the consumer. As long as there is no neglect or malice proven against the hotel, the hotel is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles (or their belongings) that park in their parking lots - whether valet or self-parking.

I'm not an attorney either...but in order to have any chance of collecting you would have to prove negligence.
If the hotel knowingly hired employees that had been fired for theft...you might have a chance. But let's face it..that isn't going to happen.
My car was broken into a number of years ago at a metro DC hotel. Turns out that thefts were a common occurence from cars. The hotel said they werent liable so I filed a claim with my insurance company. I asked if they were going to try to collect from the hotel...and they said it wasn't worth the effort to even try.

Hi, I haven't been able to be online for several days and so I have just now read everyone's replies. Thanks everyone for your input. I will probably ask the Kahala Mandarin to hold our bags for us.
