Birmingham Hotels

Where should my husband and I stay the night before flying out of Birmingham airport. We'll be driving in from Atlanta.
We just want a decent, safe place within 15-20 minute drive from the airport.

There are a couple of places to stay right off of HWY 280. There's a nice Mariott - www.mariott.com. It usually runs about $120-$150 a night. It's about 15 - 20 minutes from the airport and it's right next to the Summit (good shopping and restaurants). There's also a Mariott Courtyard on off of HWY 31 in Homewood. It should be on the mariott website as well.

We stay at the Holiday Inn Express just off I-20 and it's perfect! Join their club (you may be surprised to find out that you are their honored guest when you arrive, as I did)
They include a pizza, apple, cookie, soda type dinner in the lobby and a fairly nice array of breakfast buffet items in their dining room in their price.
The rooms are quiet, they have a computer room area and a small work out room - as well as a very small pool.

Their sign always says something to the effect of 'We try harder' and I think they do.

Next door to a Sam's Club and kind of across the street from a Walmart.

I stay at the Hampton Inn Irondale (around the corner from OSB's hotel).

Perfect location as you drive in from Atlanta and close to the airport. I've stayed there 95% of the time I'm in Bham and have always been pleased.

I like HIX as well, so OSB's recommendation is a good one too. Either is a win-win.

starrsvill: I may have to check the Hampton out next time just to compare! Gives me a back up plan, at least!
