Better Seats: Mezzanine or Orchestra?
I am in the process of searching for Man of La Mancha tickets at the Martin Beck Theatre. Which seats would be better:
Ist row center Mezzanine or 3rd row center Orchestra?
Ist row center Mezzanine or 3rd row center Orchestra?

I have no idea where that theater is but I would say almost without exception, 1st row center mezzaine would always be better than 3rd row orchestra. That's usually too close, especially for any kind of visual production, dance or theater. You'd be looking at their feet that close. The exception would be a theater that set the first row back quite a bit. Also, if the stage is much higher than the floor of the seats, you may be looking over the edge of the stage or the orchestra pit.

I realize it doesn't make much difference now, but we always prefer good Orchestra seats over the Mezz. There must be a reason that "House Seats" are always in the Orchestra, generally 3rd through 10th row center. I will admit you can't go to far wrong with 1st row center Mezz. unless there is a high railing in front of you. JMO. Enjoy the show.

Here's my rule: I buy tickets as close to the stage as possible for an intimate performance (i.e. Bernadette Peters in concert) so I can see the person as well as hear them. For a big stage production like Man of LaMancha, i buy tickets in the front of the Mezzanine so I can see the whole stage.
