Best Sandals to Walk In - Beach and Pavement

What sandals do you suggest might give me the most comfort, but still stand up to the environment..and still stay cool.

Don't want to wear my tennis shoes or hiking boots.

I guess I'm looking for something some would hike in (I wouldn't)...but ok if they should get wet

Yep, Tevas. Or other sport sandals. I have a Nike pair that I really like. They're very comfy, and with the ankle strap they keep my feet from sliding around in them when wet, which happens when wearing flip-flops.

Also, anyone know who might do Cabela's private label? Found some in their catalogue that appear very similar to Teva's for about 35% less than Teva's.

At the risk of stating the obvious, Tevas are popular sandals like what you describe.

Other option maybe an amphibian type sneaker?

I just bought some "running shoe" looking shoes that are fine in water too. Got them from the Chadwicks catalog for a steal. Many colors to choose from. Mens and womens. Not terribly ugly.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about the Keen Newport H2's. You can see them on rei.com. The non-leather ones are great for wet or dry. My husband is getting a pair but we don't have them yet.

You know, I've look at those H2's by Keen. That may be just the way to go. Think I will go and try some on and then find the best deal on the net..

I've been a bit disappointed in Tevas over the past few years. It seems some of the models are using much stiffer soles with less cushion to them than older models. It makes me wary about buying them mail order -- atlhough the teva site does have some good deals every once in a while.

Chacos are sandals made for serious hiking. I personally like my Naots. Check zappos.com for a huge selection of brands. On the Europe board there's also a "best walking shoe" thread with over a hundred responses.
