Best hotel or inn or B&B in Carmel

Hi, My husband and I are traveling in CA in late August, early September. We're spending two nights in the Carmel area. We like to be able to walk around the town, have a glass of wine. What is a recommended hotel, inn, Bed & Breakfast in the $250-$375 range. We will be there on a Monday & Tuesday night. Thanks, Alexa

I liked the Best Western Plus Bayview Inn. It has a good location with shops and restaurants conveniently located within walking distance.

You need to avoid Monterey Car Week Aug. 10-16 and Labor Day weekend Sept. 4-7.

We stay at the Cypress Inn.

Last year, during Car Week, we couldn't into the Cypress for 2 of our nights and ended up at the Sea View Inn on Camino Real between 11th and 12th. We were in room #7, and it was very nice. The inn is not as close to Ocean Avenue as the Cypress, but we enjoyed the walks to town and the beach. No TV in the room if that matters to you.

Cypress is a classic. I was at Happy Landing Inn for a fundraiser recently and they did a nice job with their remodel.

One of our favorites in Carmel is the Green Lantern Inn. For $375/nt you could get into there, the Cypress Inn, or maybe even L'Auberge for something higher-end.

We stay in a house when in Carmel but overflow guests really like La Playa and the Mission Ranch. The Mission Ranch, however, is not in the village.
