Best drives from Boston next weekend for fall colors?

Hello all,
I wanted your suggestions about best place to celebrate my 5th anniversary next weekend some place which is a couple of hours driving distance from Boston. I have booked in one of Acadia, Bar Harbor hotels, but seems like it will be cold. But it will be cold everywhere around Boston then right? Will I be able to see any Fall colors at all in any place to celebrate my anniversary? Please advice!!
Thanks-Preeya

Bar Harbor, Maine, is 250 miles north of Boston. Colors will be fine right around Boston (it's late this year). "Cold" is all relative to what you're used to.

Colors are near peak around metro-Boston now and should be very nice next weekend, assuming rain and wind do not ruin them. Remember, next weekend is Halloween - which may or may not affect your plans.

How about staying someplace nice in Boston itself and taking a day-trip west on Route 2 - towards Lexington, Concord, etc.

We are just west of Route 495 and the colors are at their peak right now (everybody is raking leaves).. I'd head down towards Connecticut..

Ditto the heading south idea. We went a little up the Hudson yesterday and the colors are already well into the change there. Can't imagine there will be much still left near Boston by next weekend.

And the colors do seem to be late this year - I would have expected Central Park to start changing by now and its barely started.

Just returned from a week in New England last night. Best leaf peeping now is in northern Ct. around the Litchfield hills area. Next weekend may be late in Mass. IMHO.
