Best alternative to TuTuTun on South Coast

Hello,
We were hoping to stay at TuTuTun Lodge in June but they are booked on the date we need. Can anyone suggest the "next best thing"? We are coming all the way from Mendocino, CA that day so we can't go much further north than Gold Beach. Thanks!

I was lucky to have stayed at TuTuTun last summer, and I don't think anything else in the Gold Beach Area comes close. But I remember seeing signs and driving by these two places: http://www.irelandsrusticlodges.com/. Big disclaimer though; I've never stayed in either!

You're smart to stop in Gold Beach. The scenery from there north to Port Orford is spectacular, and you wouldn't want to miss any of it for darkness.

If I haven't helped, at least I've topped your post.

Have a good trip.

We always look forward to spending a night at the very well maintained Best Western Beachfront Inn in Brookings, OR. All rooms are right on the water and they all have great views except the ones with a Jacuzzi (because the Jacuzzi is in the window).

The rooms at TuTuTun Lodge are nice, but the place comes with quite a bit of attitude.

Hmmm..... I think I may have just been dissed!

If TuTuTun does come with attitude, it would be its guests. From what I observed and experienced, the owners and staff went out of their way to create a welcoming and pleasing environment.

Again hausfrau, if nothing else, at least I've topped your post.

Sorry beachbum, no dis intended. I didn't read your post until now.

You aren't the only one who likes TuTuTun; it is highly praised by many. However, rather than stay there, I would much rather watch the waves slam the shore.

Thanks, I've booked a room at the Best Western (I checked their site and the rooms look very nice) and maybe I'll check back with TuTuTun to see if they have any cancellations.

I expect a place like that to have a bit of attitude. Nevertheless, staying on the beach sounds really nice and we haven't done that before. It might be better to try TuTuTun when we have a little more time.
