$2.50 going east, no charge going west. The traffic on the bridge has gotten better, but the tiniest thing can mess it up -- from accidents to weather / winds. Also, beach season doesn't start for a couple more weeks.

Sunday, MAY 7, the eastbound span of the Bay Bridge will be closed for the 2006 Bay Bridge Walk from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span. Motorists should anticipate major delays. www.baybridge.com for more info.

melrose, saturdays in the summer seem to be the worst day on the bridge as that is when the weekly rentals at the beach turnover. since you are going eastbound on a sunday and westbound on a friday, you should have no issues.

Over the years, on the 25+ times we have gone to OC, most have been a Sunday to Friday. Have had no problems at all going east across the bridge on Sundays, unless there is an accident. Sometimes have gone directly to OC & sometimes stopped in Annapolis first, & have been good either time of day. Usually leave OC after 4 pm on Friday, not bad at that time going west. A few times, we have been able to stay an extra night & leave OC on Saturday. On those times, we have left by about 9am to 10am on Saturday. The traffic has been a little bit heavier then but not bad.(Especially if you compare it to the traffic going east at that time.) Can add about 1/2hr or more to drive time on Saturday mornings. Going east have had some slowdowns or completely stopped for only a short time until getting through the toll booths, but have never had to stop, due to traffic on the bridge.

Hey Melrose, I just saw the "leaving Sunday" and I thought it was this weekend.
I ran the 2006 Bay Bridge this morning with about 2K other runner's. I didn't see much traffic build up really because most folks got the msg and stayed away, but alot of the cars on the other span were honking and supportive! It was a beautiful day and an awesome 6.2 mile course across the Bridge and surrounding state park. The suspension part of the bridge was swaying alot with all the runner's on there, it was kinda erie! Yeah, gotta love the Bay Bridge!

We were on a sailboat watching the restart of the Volvo around the world sailboat race. Very exciting. We sailed under Bridge and waved at the walkers above. The center spans were closed to all boat traffic for " security reasons"...so you could only go under the east side spans, which of course, had the same number of walkers as the middle spans, but the Coast Guard would not allow Tall masted sailboats to get out of the area for hours after start of Volvo or end on walk. Wow, the conversations on the radios with sailors and the CG got ALITTLE heated!! Won't go into the lack of manners, and boating knowledge of many power boaters during the start of the race...! All in all a great day to be on or over THE Bay, however.
